Office of the Fire Marshal:

• Is staffed by the Fire Marshal, Fire Prevention Specialists, and administrative support staff.
• Recommends and enforces the Stanislaus County Fire Code which is based on the 2007 California Fire Code (Part 9 of Title 24 California Code of Regulations) and amended in Chapter 16.55 of the Stanislaus County Code.
• Serves the unincorporated areas of Stanislaus County including the communities of La Grange, Knights Ferry, Valley Home, Denair, Hickman, Empire, Salida, Westley, Crows Landing, Grayson, and the cities of Hughson, Newman, and Waterford.
• Reviews building and development plans during the normal building permit review.  Requires separate submittals for underground fire lines, automatic fire sprinkler systems, fire alarm systems, large propane installations, and other specialized suppression systems.
• Charges user fees for most plan reviews, inspections related to new construction, and issuing permits.
• Administers Weed Abatement Force Clean Program. Initial inspection, determination and posting must be done by the fire district.
