Understanding the Fire Marshal Plan Review Processes

The following activities are regulated by the Stanislaus County Fire Code. Please call the Office of the Fire Marshal at (209) 552-3700 before engaging in any of these activities. Information to obtain any needed permits and the link(s) are listed below.

Call the Fire Prevention Bureau for further information and to schedule an inspection.

  • Explosives or Blasting Agent
    • Explosives or Blasting Agent Permits  [PDF] are required before using or transporting explosives within Stanislaus County. The permit fee is $293.00. The following forms must be submitted with the completed application:
      1. Certificate of Eligibility issued by the State of California D.O.J.
      2. Notice of Clearance issued by the Federal Explosives Licensing Center
      3. Certificate of Possession of Explosives
      4. License/Permit issued by the U.S. Treasury Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco & Firearms
      5. Motor Carrier Permit issued by the Department of Motor Vehicles
      6. Hazardous Materials Certificate of Registration issued by the California Highway Patrol
      7. Certificate of insurance naming Stanislaus County as the insured.
  • Fire Sprinkler Systems
  • Fireworks
    • FireWorks Sales Booth Permit
      A fireworks Sales Booth Permit is required Before "Safe and Sane" fireworks may be sold. The Permit fee is $73.00. Contact the Fireworks Company for an application
    • Public Pyrotechnic Displays Permit
      Prior approval, an on-site inspection and an on site fire official are required for all public pyrotechnic displays. The cost for these services is $660.00. Contact the Fireworks Company for an application
  • Special Events
    • Carnival/Circus Permit [PDF]
      A Fire inspection and fire clearance is required before a permit to have a carnival or circus will be issued. The inspection fee is $195.00
    • Public Dance Permit [PDF]
      A Fire inspection and fire clearance is required before a Dance Permit will be issued. The inspection fee is $195.00
  • Water System Flow Tests
  • Weed Abatement
    • Weed Abatement process [PDF]
      The cost of forced weed abatement performed under the Stanislaus County Fire Code will include the cost of completing the abatement and as administrative fee of $214.00.
